FPU Coordinator: Just add church!

I had this vision that all I would have to do is ask someone “in charge” at my church “hey I’m really into Dave Ramsey…so can I teach Financial Peace here?”

And they would respond “Wow! We’ve been looking someone to teach FPU here…thank goodness you spoke up…let’s get this going now!”.

Instead I was hit with reality that I should have thought of beforehand:

1. I am a relatively new parishioner and pretty much unknown to the councils and committees that would approve these things. Mostly I’ve just “gone to church”.
2. I need to respect the church hierarchy / processes that gets things done
3. Not everyone has heard of FPU (or Dave Ramsey) – hard to believe I know!

I first need to get known by the key people at church by volunteering, joining committees, etc. to get my name out there and show that I’m interested in making some things happen.

So instead of “instant FPU Coordinator” I need to understand my roadmap of how to get there. It will be a good long haul but worth it.

Anyone have any church / FPU stories or advice on this matter?
